It great the plants looked very good - I was skeptical - and then I was pleasantly surprised. This is a great looking plant and interesting to watch mature. The new red blushed colored new growth is a stand out and then the tiny flower buds circling the branches so interesting.
I read all the articles I could find hoping for a spectacular result for my new plant. Received a 2 ft. I had received a box of long pine needles from NE Florida woods. I saved up coffee grounds for more acid levels. Botting mix was combination of acid mixes with coffee grounds added. The bottom of container has 2" of pine needles and the top was mulched with pine needles.
I started to find tiny ants accumulating around the leaf joints. Then the Lady bugs moved in- and kept the ants under control. No pest control used so far. The ants are pollinating the tiny flowers. Apparently there were more berries than I say because I have about 6 new plants growing up from the top of soil. They must germinate very easily.
Can't wait to transplant them. I have only eaten one berry and saved the seed for planting. I defiantly was pleased with the taste of food after trying it. Can't wait to keep experimenting with new flavors. Limes didn't have that sour bite and there was a sweet after taste. Regular meals were like comparing a TV dinner with a high priced meal at a restaurant. It's hard to describe but you know it's way better flavor.
